Something really exciting is happening in the month of July. Bakers from all over the world are coming together to raise awareness for ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. If you know anything about this terrible disease, you know that there is no cure--YET!
Bake To Defeat ALS was started last year by Anita, from Sweet Hope Cookies. Anita's brother, Randy, passed away from ALS and she works tirelessly to raise awareness and for a cure.
This is where you and I come in. Together, we can make a difference. During the month of July, I will be donating a portion of all the sales from my decorative cookies, to support my local ALS foundation. Order my drop cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, etc) and I will donate even a larger percentage of the profits. (More than likely, I'll deduct the ingredient costs and donate the rest.) I'll be posting updates on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Please follow me, if you don't already.
In addition, during next month, I'm also going to keep track of everyone who buys any cookies, cakes or other baked goods from me and tells me specifically that they are doing it in support of Bake to Defeat ALS, and then at the end of July, I'll choose one person who will get a prize (probably some fabulous cookies, no surprise there). Too far from me or don't like cookies??--show me that you've made a donation to the ALS Foundation of your choice and you'll be entered in the drawing too. More details to come as we get into July. Stay tuned.
