Long, long before decorative cookies, my first love was decorating cakes.
So, when I was asked to bake a cake for a co-worker's last day, of course I said YES! Any chance to bake a cake, you don't have to ask me twice. These days I get more cookie orders than cakes.
This cake is a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. To change things up a bit, I used chocolate buttercream in the center. (Forgot to take a picture of the cut cake.). The roses on top are one of my favorite designs. These are super simple to make with a 2D tip from Wilton. I just love these colors together. I'm totally a girlie girl and love flowers on a cake.
To get a level cake, I use acrylic discs from Cakesafe. If you don't use these, don't walk, run and get yourself some. They give your cakes a nice sharp edge, with even distribution of the frosting. Here's a link to their website: https://www.cakesafe.com/store
Until the next baking adventure............
